Applicant organizations must have already in place a multi-entity “family of organizations” that include a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), Political Action Committees (state or federal PACS), and/or other corporate entities (such as LLCs).

Applicant organizations must have a social justice-oriented mission that engages in racial, economic, gender, and/or immigrant justice work that runs civic engagement and organizing programs.

The ideal Bold & Safe participant: (1) seeks to deepen their leadership, skills, and knowledge to drive an organization-wide culture of compliance; and (2) has the capacity to fully participate in reviewing online videos, engage with the curriculum, and attend 8 live sessions. We estimate this commitment requires an investment of approximately 90 minutes per week for 11 weeks.

Applicant organizations must have programs that engage in some kind of reportable activity, such as ballot initiatives, lobbying, or support of 501(c)(4) activities through a resource-sharing agreement.

Organizational leaders must provide the space and support necessary for the operational lead to fully participate in the program. This might look like: 1) supporting and protecting at least 90 min. weekly for the participant to watch videos and engage in live sessions; 2) debrief learnings with the participating staff member to explore together how to integrate and apply learnings; and 3) invite the participating staff member to share learnings and engage the broader team in discussions and activities introduced through the program.

Organizations that have identified building operational capacity as a top organizational priority are best positioned to implement the guidance of the course.

Applicant organizations will benefit most if they have an established working relationship with a lawyer who can provide guidance on state-specific compliance laws and regulations as they move work forward throughout the course.
